PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR PHOTO DAY

Preparing for your little one's portraits?

If you’ve never had natural portraits of your children done before, you're in for a treat! We’re not just about getting photographs. Our aim is to create images that capture your child’s personality and their beautiful expressions at this age.

The choice of clothing is important. We recommend wearing block colours and clothing without text/logos/busy patterns. Textured (ruffles, buttons, jeans, woollen knits) or layered clothing work well. We welcome accessories like hats, scarves and headbands or hair clips or one bright feature accent can also work really well for photos.

For warmer weather, basics with bright colours and denims/complimentary coloured shorts or skirts look great.

We recommend to avoid clothing with large pop culture images/text (yes I'm talking Elsa and Paw Patrol) as they can detract from your child's gorgeous face! In saying that, we want each child to be as happy as possible so if having their favourite item of clothing is going to make them beam all day we are happy too :)

Our most important piece of advice is to make sure your child's clothing fits well. Try it on a few days before photo day so that it's not too tight as you know how fast kids grow at this age!?

PREPARING YOUR CHILD

We recommend talking to your child about the upcoming photo day so they know what to expect. Especially if they have not had photos by a professional photographer at the centre before and a new face might be a bit daunting. Our aim is to capture them with natural expressions -laughing, giggling and having fun without fake cheesy smiles if possible (no saying CHEEEESE please)

Let your child know that the photographer will take a few photos of them sitting or standing and they'll have loads of fun showing me around with all the things they love to climb, swing and play with.

If your child is a little nervous about photo day and meeting a new face, let them know they can bring along a special toy/ snuggle bunny for photo time to help them feel more secure or have a favourite educator or friend come out with them.
